So
you want to ride backcountry? Do it the right way!
We
are proactive in educating you about the potential risks involved
with back-country travel by offering a Recreational Avalanche
Course. The 2 day/2 night course, conducted in the Niseko
area, is recognised by the Canadian
Avalanche Association - the world leader in avalanche education
and research.
The
course covers all aspects of safe back-country travel including
hazard recognition, evaluation of avalanche terrain, snow pack
stability testing and the use of avalanche retrieval equipment.
Check
out a few photos of challenging mock transceiver
searches that take place during the course.
Avalanche awareness is generally neglected in Australia and New
Zealand due to our isolation from their dangers. The Camp
want to make you aware of the potential dangers in your sport,
and empower you by providing the knowledge and skills to
identify hazardous situations. In Niseko, we conduct the
course in a safe location, ideally suited to learning
these skills.
"It
was the best thing I've ever done for my skiing career."
